Abstract

This activity will be carried out on home industries that are tofu production. Based on a preliminary survey conducted at a home industries for Tofu production "Sumarni Bersaudara Sikalang", it was found that the potential dangers found are mechanical hazard. The mechanical hazard is porridge cooked soybeans still use the traditional way that is done by direct heating soybeans that have been mashed into the pan placed over a furnace using embers. The occupational risk that arises is that workers can be directly exposed to soybean boiled water and the risk of burning hot coals when boiling it. Another risk of this traditional tool is to boil the mashed soybeans directly in a frying pan and on a fire, so that the bottom of the pan will develop a crust of soybean so that the resulting of tofu will smell of smoke. The solution given is to create a soybean boiling technique using a steam boiler. The result of this activity is that the cooking time of soybean porridge is 50% faster than before, the production costs and fuel incurred are also 33% more efficient, and the quality of the tofu is better. The conclusion of this activity is that the renewal of the technique of boiling soybeans using a steam boiler can provide material and non-material benefits to partner locations.
