Gerakan “Ayo Membaca Buku” guna Meningkatkan Kemampuan Literasi Masyarakakat Tanah Ombak Purus Padang

Abstract

The university program is located at the Tanah Ombak Purus Padang Reading House. This reading house has been established for a dozen years and is managed by a husband and wife and assisted by several volunteers who have a high human spirit. They dedicate their lives to the children at the Tanah Ombak Purus Padang Reading House. We selected this place because we saw the spirit of the managers and volunteers at the Reading House. This Reading House is located in a densely populated area of ​​Purus. The livelihood of residents in general is fishermen. Most of the residents have middle to lower income, so parents hope that their children can increase their income by helping their parents work. From the interviews we conducted with managers and volunteers, this Reading House used to be visited by children from the surrounding area, but now it has decreased. This is because children support their parents to work. Therefore, the arrival of the PKM team to socialize at the Tanah Ombak Reading House is expected to motivate children to love reading again so that they become smart Indonesians.
